Edward Michael is a cinematographer based in San Francisco. Born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, Michael showed an aptitude for photography, videography, and storytelling at an early age. He studied at Loyola University Chicago and graduated from the Academy of Art University of San Francisco, majored in cinematography and studied under Kenn Ferro (steadycam operator “40 Days and 40 Nights” (2002) and "Bottle Shock" (2008)).
In his work, Michael focuses on documentaries, music videos, commercial branding videos, as well as personal and professional profiles. He has created hundreds of videos working with Rose Rose Productions, The Method Makers, Campari, Bloom Studios, ITS THEM Brand Consulting. Michael has done video projects in the US and Italy.
His films were featured at the San Francisco 24-hour Film Festival, the San Francisco Black Film Festival, and the LA Underground Film Festival. Currently, Michael is collaborating with Rob Nilsson winner of the Camera d’Or at the Cannes film festival and the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival.
Regardless of the type of project, his goal as cinematographer is to create visuals that will not only tell the story, but that will affect the viewer and make the world a more beautiful place.
